Every girls trip starts with an interesting backstory. My cousins and I live throughout Florida. We took our first cousins’ trip to Orlando. What a time it was. We laughed, celebrated, reconnected and vowed to make this an annual tradition. The next year, we kept the party going in the city of Tampa. But then life got in the way.
After the pandemic, we rediscovered the importance of family, so 2023 was our time to go even bigger. And as a Hilton Grand Vacations Owner, I can stay with Hilton’s portfolio across the United States, including Park City, Utah; Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Memphis, Tennessee.
We flew out of the state to New Orleans. It wasn’t my first trip to The Big Easy, but it was definitely the best that I've experienced. Whether you're a music lover, a food enthusiast or simply seeking an unforgettable adventure, New Orleans and its beloved Bourbon Street are ready to welcome you with open arms.
The soulful city of New Orleans has it all — vibrant nightlife, delicious cuisine and captivating music that make this city truly unique. Upon arriving in New Orleans, we couldn't wait to dive into the enchanting ambiance of the French Quarter. No need for shared rides or rental cars — the Regional Transit Authority streetcars zipped us around the city effortlessly.
We began with a mouthwatering brunch at local hotspot Cafe Fleur De Lis, where we savored traditional dishes like seafood omelets and shrimp and grits. Energized and ready for the day, we spent the afternoon indulging in retail therapy at the French Quarter’s boutique shops.
As evening approached, we ventured onto the legendary Bourbon Street. The pulsating energy, live music pouring from every corner and the delicious aromas wafting from street vendors set the stage for an unforgettable night. We hopped from one bar to another, sipping classic New Orleans cocktails like French 75s and hurricanes.
What better way to unwind than staying at Canopy by Hilton New Orleans Downtown. This hotel is in the heart of the city, just off Canal Street. The Suites take on NOLA’s culture with its sleek modern design. I enjoyed features like comfortable plush bedding and marble walk-in showers.
After a good night's rest, we were determined to experience more of New Orleans' charm, which led us to the enchanting Garden District. The picturesque streets of majestic mansions and lush gardens left us in awe. We wandered through Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, marveling at the above-ground tombs and the history they hold.
Bourbon Street was our go-to again for our nightlife plans. Jazz music floated through the air, drawing us into intimate clubs where we danced the night away. The vibrant nightlife of Bourbon Street truly encapsulated the spirit of New Orleans.
As our trip came to an end, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the memories we created on this extraordinary adventure. New Orleans exceeded our expectations. We bid farewell to this vibrant city, knowing that its unique atmosphere would forever hold a special place in our hearts.
New Orleans — with its rich cultural heritage — proved to be an exceptional destination for a girls' leisure trip.
