Oahu — the heart of Hawaii — has always been my go-to destination when I crave the perfect blend of vibrant city life and tropical adventure. I visit two to three times a year to spend time with friends and enjoy the surf.

Location, Location, Location
Location is key when I look for accommodations on my travels. To save on costs, I try not to rent a car, especially if the destination has a walkable downtown with plenty to do. Luckily, Hokulani Waikiki’s location is unbeatable.
Nestled in the heart of Waikiki, the resort rises above Kalakaua Ave (Waikiki’s main street), but its entrance is on a side street, so you’re not immediately greeted by crowds when going out for the day.
There are plenty of options for shopping and dining just steps away, from P.F. Chang’s and Starbucks Coffee to my favorite women’s clothing store, Mahina, located a few doors down.

Luxurious Accommodations
Hokulani Waikiki is an all-Suite resort in which every Suite has a separate bedroom, living area and kitchen. From the moment you walk in, you’ll be surrounded by luxury and comfort.
The spacious Suites are elegantly designed with modern Hawaiian decor, offering a perfect blend of style and functionality — great for relaxing after a long day of adventure. The convenient kitchen includes a small refrigerator and freezer, glassware and utensils, a two-burner stove, a microwave and a coffee pot.
Pro tip: My parents and I like grocery shopping at Foodland to enjoy a night in and save money, since dining in Hawaii can get expensive.
A private balcony allows you to take in the fresh Hawaiian breeze, and the bathroom is HUGE, featuring a walk-in shower with a waterfall showerhead, a soaking tub, two sinks, a separate toilet room and even a vanity with a TV in the mirror.
Top-Notch Resort Amenities
Hokulani Waikiki features a wide array of incredible amenities that enhance my every stay. The rooftop pool and lounge area has a hot tub, shaded cabanas and a full bar. My friends and I love coming up here to play cards or enjoy an al fresco dinner.
Here, you can see the full stretch of Kalakaua Avenue. It’s a great place for people watching or taking in views of the Pacific Ocean (my personal favorite). The resort also hosts movie nights on the rooftop, where you can watch the featured film from a comfortable lounge chair.
You’ll also find laundry facilities on every floor, a business center and high-end massage chairs in the lobby.
