Located in Lake Tahoe, California, about three hours east of San Francisco, the Hilton Vacation Club Lake Tahoe Resort is close to shops and has a nice indoor/outdoor pool that can be used year-round.

This is the third time I’ve stayed here, and it’s a great weekend getaway. Since I was traveling alone on this trip, I decided to stay in a Studio as opposed to a 1- or 2-Bedroom Suite.

This allowed me to use fewer points while enjoying all the same wonderful amenities of the property. I was able to book my vacation within 45 days of my arrival.

A Convenient Kitchenette

One of the great features of the Studios here is the kitchenettes with two-burner stovetops. This makes it convenient for one or two travelers to prepare meals without leaving the property.

I tend to use the kitchenette for breakfast and lunch, and use the grills for dinner.

Besides those options and an on-site eatery, there are wonderful restaurants in the Lake Tahoe area, so dining out is also a great choice.

Here are some of the best breakfast spots and great places for hot cocoa, coffee and cider.

The Indoor/Outdoor Pool

The pool area is centrally located, offering both indoor and outdoor sections. The outdoor section features a spacious swimming pool surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs, perfect for relaxing under the sun. The indoor section includes a heated pool, ideal for year-round swimming in any weather. There's also a  hot tub in the indoor section, providing a soothing retreat when you want to unwind.

Views From My Studio

My Studio was on the sixth floor and had an amazing view of the lake and mountains. It was mid-April when I visited and there was still snow visible at higher elevations.

The Studio

My room was fairly spacious, with a small table for two, a large television and two beds that could accommodate up to four people. The beds were really comfortable and the TV was well-positioned to watch from either one. There was plenty of storage for hanging clothes, and the room included a laundry basket with detergent, as the resort has a shared laundry room for Guests.

Other Amenities

The resort has a fitness center and plenty of outdoor grills. They also have a Sales Gallery where you can get an update on new features of your membership, like an Open Season credit for HGV Max Premier+ Members like me. Nothing like having extra money to rent a Studio for free for five days!
