The city lights, the hustle and bustle — there's no place like the Big Apple.
And for my husband and me, it doubles as our favorite place in the world and our "home-away-from-home." We've shared so many incredible moments in the city – including our engagement — so we take any chance that we can get to visit.
Since we haven't started a family yet, we love to fill our time in New York City bringing fun date ideas to life. As foodies, one of our go-to ways to enjoy the city is discovering new spots to grab a cocktail and unwind.
So, if you're looking for a city-style date spot or just a new place to kick back with a drink in the City That Never Sleeps, here's our "best-of" list.
Four of the Best Date Spots in NYC for Drinks
Death & Co
Located in East Village, Death & Co was a location that my husband and I had wanted to visit for years — no exaggeration. So finally, during our 2018 engagement trip, wanting to celebrate in style, we made it happen.
This iconic drink spot oozes that speakeasy vintage vibe, making it literally the best place for us to enjoy drinks in NYC. (To put that statement into context, we had a New Year’s Eve "1920s style" wedding – so Death & Co is absolutely up our alley). Trust me, this place exceeded our expectations.
Small and quaint, it's one of the best places to celebrate a special occasion or perfect as a fun date idea. Finally, there's something for every taste on the incredible craft cocktail menu, so you can't go wrong — whether you're feeling adventurous or craving the classics.
Manhatta
Manhatta has a special place in our hearts as it was the first place we went as a newly engaged couple, and we couldn't have asked for a better date spot to celebrate our engagement. Located on the 60th floor (in downtown New York City), this place offers stunning city views.
Plus, on top of the amazing drinks, the food is incredible too. My mouth waters just thinking about the French Onion Burger I ordered that day. So, if you're planning a fancy date night with your loved one, put Manhatta on your list today.
The Carnegie Club
If you're staying in Midtown Manhattan, then The Carnegie Club is your spot. We love that it's so close to West 57th Street by Hilton Club and The Quin by Hilton Club, and I'll never forget the first time we stepped foot into the lounge.
It was as if we stepped back in time to an exclusive lounge where crooners like Dean Martin played while Mob bosses conducted business in the VIP section.
Known as one of the best places to drink if you favor dark spirits, such as whiskey, bourbon, and scotches, and home to "Sinatra Saturdays," The Carnegie Club adds just the right amount of sultry energy to any NYC-style date.
Terroir
You didn't think I would write about the best Big Apple bars and lounges without suggesting a wine bar, did you?
Located in Tribeca and offering a ton of wine by the glass options, we love Terroir because it's perfect for trying a variety of different wines. Don’t worry if your better half isn’t a cork dork, there’s more than just wine.
We make it down to Tribeca every trip for a fun date and then top it off with a stop to our favorite wine store, which is just a couple blocks up from Terroir.
