We like to travel -- a lot. One of the main advantages of purchasing Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare is that the flexible points system allows you to travel the world and enjoy life how you please. You can convert your Points for cruises, RCI Exchange® or our favorite conversion type – booking within the Hilton portfolio of brands for long weekends or a quick getaway.
Our Favorite Way to Convert Hilton Grand Vacations ClubPoints
By converting ClubPoints to Hilton Honors™ Points we can visit places where there may not be a Hilton Grand Vacations property, which was one of the biggest selling points and convinced us to become owners.
One of our favorite destinations is Lake Placid, New York, which is just a few hours from home.
What To Do in Lake Placid Year-round Fun
Lake Placid is a beautiful destination filled with history as a Winter Olympics location and a nature lover's dream as home to the Adirondack Mountains.
We frequently convert our Hilton Grand Vacations ClubPoints to stay at the Hampton by Hilton Lake Placid which overlooks Mirror Lake. Several of the rooms have balconies overlooking the lake. You can sit with your coffee as the sun rises or a glass of wine as the sun sets and see the reflection in myriad colors of yellows and oranges reflecting off the lake.
Other Fun Things To Do in Lake Placid
Avid golfers will appreciate that the Lake Placid Cub Golf Courses are only five minutes away, where several golf greats have honed their craft.
Lake Placid is also filled with local brewers. Lake Placid Pub & Brewery and several other brewers and wine tasting options on Main Street are steps away from the hotel entrance.
Idyllic Summers
The location is a perfect balance of nature and activity. In the summer, you can explore the lake and spend time at the beach on the way to rent a boat or kayak.
After renting a small paddle or motor boat, you can continue your stroll down the quaint street with several options to grab food at some of our local favorites like Luna Restaurant or an ice cream cone at Emma's Lake Placid Creamery. There are multiple options and cuisines, several with great views of the water.
We had the opportunity to stay in Lake Placid for the Fourth of July. The decision did not disappoint. True to its quaint and hometown feel, we enjoyed a parade filled with old cars, local sports teams, and children who decorated their bicycles in a patriotic theme to showcase their talents.
Topping off the day were fantastic fireworks that provided stunning reflections off of Mirror Lake following the parade.
Winter Wonderland
During the winter months, we explore the Olympic Jumping Complex, where you can take a gondola up to the observation deck for panoramic views of the mountains before you head back down and watch Olympic hopefuls practice their jumps.
After a cold day, relax with a warm toddy in the well-decorated lobby area and rejuvenate so we can enjoy a toboggan ride or horse-drawn carriage ride just a few miles away.
In my experience, ownership with Hilton Grand Vacations has its privileges, and the possibilities are endless.
